Catherine Tu is the Associate Professor of Music Education at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) specializing in elementary general music. Prior to teaching at TAMUK, she taught elementary/general music, early childhood music classes, and directed church choirs in Illinois. Her early childhood music experiences have included teaching for programs in Texas, Florida, and Illinois and is the Director of TAMUK's Early Childhood Music Development Lab. Her service work has included holding positions on various boards including AOSA, ISME, and TMEA. She is a contributing author to Music Play II: Early Childhood Music Engagement Plans and The Routledge Companion to Interdisciplinary Studies in Singing, Volume IV: Assessing multiple singing skills (chapter 26). Her other publications have appeared in Research Perspectives in Music Education, the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, and Perspectives: Journal of the Early Childhood Music & Movement Association. She received a Ph.D. from the University of Miami and her BM and MM from University of South Carolina. Dr. Tu has been nominated for and appointed to the 2019-2020 Texas A&M University System Chancellor’s Academy of Teacher Educators.
