Dr Leon de Bruin is coordinator of the Master of Music Performance Teaching degree program (MMPT) at the Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne. He is immediate Past President of the Australian Society for Music Education ( ASME), and committee member for the ISME Instrumental and Vocal Music Teaching commission. He is an educator, performer and researcher in music education, creativity, cognition, collaborative learning, creative pedagogies, and improvisation. His work spans pre-service teacher training in music education, curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, and research methodologies. He has published over 70 articles, chapters and edited books, including: Musical Ecologies (Lexington); Revolutions in Music Education (Rowman); Creativities in Arts Education, Research and Practice: International Perspectives for the Future of Learning and Teaching, and co-author of Creativity in Education in the Oxford Research Encyclopaedia of Education. He represents ASME in the Australian Arts Alliance in Education ( AAAE) and the National Advocates for Arts Education in Australia. He is represented on the editorial board of The International Journal of Music Education, and Thinking Skills and Creativity.
