Sondre Pettersen; a dynamic force within music pedagogy. With a background in Jazz Vocal from NTNU, Sondre has graced Norway's National Theaters as a composer, performer, and skilled church organist, seamlessly blending joik and live electronics. Rooted in his indigenous Sami heritage, Sondre holds a master's degree in Joik and sustainability from the University of Bergen, where he shares his passion as a jazz department teacher. Currently crafting an interdisciplinary composition for the 2024 Artic Arts Festival, titled "The Cry Of The Earth," Sondre collaborates with musicians from Norway, South-Korea, and Sápmi, breaking musical boundaries with visual artists and a climate scientist from IPCC. AT ISME 2024 Pettersen will share his findings and research questions as both an artistic researcher and music teacher working in the borderlands between joik, jazz, personal identity and artistic reconciliation work.
