The International Society for Music Education (ISME) is driven by a shared commitment to advancing music education worldwide. Partners’ missions align with the mission and vision of ISME; therefore, we seek partnerships that are mutually beneficial. Partnership collaborations enable ISME to support music/teaching/research innovation, strengthen music communities, and amplify the transformative power of music across cultures and generations.
Categories of ISME Partnerships
Professional Association Partners**
This partnership category is available to national and global associations and societies that represent the interests of music educators and act as “umbrella organizations” within the discipline of music education. ISME Offers complimentary membership for one representative from each of its Professional Association Partners.
Institutional Partners
This partnership category is available to schools or universities (or departments within schools/universities), non-commercial educational/artistic entities (e.g., museums, orchestras, private music schools/academies), and groups that generally are not membership-based but serve music learners/students of any age. ISME Offers complimentary membership for one representative from each of its Institutional Partners.
Corporate Partners
This category of partnership is available to corporations and foundations that provide funding for special programs or events, businesses that seek to support ISME or expose their services or goods to members of the society, or any commercial entity that wishes to sponsor ISME on activities of limited scope and duration, or extensive and involved co-creation of joint activities through memorandums of understanding in which long-term gains and strategic alignment support and develop music education. ISME Offers complimentary membership for one representative from each of its Corporate Partners
Note 1: ISME Partners do not have voting rights at ISME. To qualify to vote, the official representative of the Partner must be a paying ISME member.

**Council of Professional Associations (CoPA)
The Council of Professional Associations (CoPA) is a committee comprising one representative from each Professional Association Partner, having values and goals aligned with ISME. The professional association determines its one representative to attend meetings, in-person or virtually.
The Council of Professional Associations is chaired by the ISME President-Elect. All communication with existing and potential CoPA entities should be directed through the ISME President-Elect.
The official CoPA representative from each professional association partner will be invited to meet with the ISME President-Elect, President, and CEO during each ISME World Conference (every two years) and can convene the group virtually throughout the biennium.
Why Become an ISME Partner?
Becoming an ISME Partner has benefits that include:
● Mutual promotion of activities and campaigns
● Access to mutual networks for projects and/or future world conferences
● Strengthening global collaboration and music advocacy
● Including information in ISME or the partner’s communications (i.e., in delegate packs at the ISME World Conferences, electronic postcards, etc.)
● Opportunity to propose a volume in the partnership strand of the ISME/Routledge book series
● Featured on the ISME website as an ISME Institutional Partner and use of a dedicated logo designating this partnership
